Johnnie Barker is a passionate musician born in Macon, GA, and raised in Sarasota, FL. He is known for his prowess with the bass guitar. Infectious, soulful, melodic, rhythmic, and experimental sounds help drive his bass playing. With a love for all things bass guitar, he also plays many other instruments, which allow him to navigate the different musical opportunities that his career paths may offer him. He creates music that resonates with audiences of all ages. Johnnie started playing bass guitar at age 15, inspired by his church youth pastor, the bassist at the time. Playing in church is one of Johnnie's most memorable career lessons, from which he draws inspiration. His first significant bass musical influence was from listening to Victor Wooten's Soul Circus track, Victa. After honing his skills through playing with his church, countless jam sessions, and performances at local venues, in 2011, he got the opportunity to become the bassist for the band Come Back Alice. With a growing fan base, Johnnie has now performed at and collaborated with artists in and out of the United States. Some of the most notable bands are Come Back Alice, Ari & the Alibis, Dirty Byrd, & Juicy Purple, to name a few.
Johnnie has now expanded his reach and passion for music. Building his dream band, which has now grown into The Barker Project. Since then, the band has been at numerous music festivals and has hosted their own shows and events. In 2020, Johnnie took a massive leap of faith and started his business, TBP Productions Multi-Media Company. Between his company and The Barker Project, Johnnie stays busy in the expanding world of music and media. Always striving to connect with his audience, he believes in the power of music to heal and bring people together.
